President Viveka Foundation: Col S.S.Rana

“Viveka Foundations - a School with a vision" was a dream idea of Mrs Kusum Rana with a purpose to give back to Society. Since the time we started our journey of togetherness we both nurtured this dream by putting our ideas based on our tremendous exposure, on our innovations and infractions, bits and pieces to come out with something very unique institution which can transform children into complete human beings. We both were fortunate enough and blessed to have associated with our nearer and dearer ones and friends who became instrumental as stakeholders without any aim to take back. We purchased a huge piece of land much closer to Palampur. I'm indebted to Mr J.C. Katoch renowned resident of Palampur for exploring the land for us along with Late Shree Mata Saran ji from Mansimbal revered soul of the society. Mr J.C. katoch has been the pioneer in getting things done.
I served for 41 years in the Indian Army and put my pension benefits and other assets into the School. When we returned we didn't have a home for ourselves. There was a choice either of constructing the house or the School building. Perhaps Almighty ordered us for our Divine Project School - "A School With A Vision".
Thus, the construction of the School started towards the end of 2005. The arduous task of designing the building was taken over by one of our dear one the leading Architect of Chandigarh, Mr Bachittar Singh - a true Stakeholder of Viveka Foundations till date. He did wonder on the difficult terrain so save much land for the playgrounds sake.
Mr Kamimender Singh Rana the renowned builder who produces wonders on the tough lands of hilly terrains took over the construction work without any purpose of earning profit. The Foundation stone was laid on 9th Dec.2005 with 'Havan Rituals' performed by my revered Mother in the presence of my father and all our nearer and dearer ones, friends and all well-wishers of around the area.
To have one leg on the ground, I decided to have reemployment for 4 years and joined services in Srinagar leaving everything to Mr Kaminder Singh and Mrs Kusum Rana. The School building came up well. On 18th March 2007, we organized the first-ever Mega Event "Open Art competition" for the children of all ages from Nursery to 12th standard of the Govt as well as private, public and convent schools of the area around and Palampur. Around 500 students participated. The first-ever event of the School was inaugurated by Rotarian Mrs Chandra Kanwaljeet a philanthropic and most revered lady of Palampur City and around.
On 25 March 2007, the School was officially inaugurated by Maj.Gen.G.S. Grewal Sena Medal** the COS (Chief Of the Staff HQ) 9 Corps. Amongst a huge Gathering of elite citizens, educationists and respectable retired people from the educational institutes and other fields who generated energy for us to travel on the Challenging road ahead. We were fortunate enough to have Maj. Gen. G S Grewal Sena Medal** The COS (Chief Of the Staff) HQ 9 Corps as the Chief Guest. The First Session of the School commences on 2nd April 2007 for classes 1st to 5th with a very humble strength of 44 students included 2 residential students with ‘Gaytri Havan’ and ‘Vedic Chanting’ in the presence of their parents and grandparents. The Journey since then has been tiresome and rewarding. The untiring hard work of Mrs Kusum Rana and the team of 5 teachers, to begin with, has brought the school to the present standard. By the blessings of Almighty, my both sons are the Product of RIMC Dehradun NDA, Khadagwasla and presently serving in the Indian Navy and Army. I can very proudly mention here that one student we prepared for RIMC from the Hostel now recently joined Indian Naval Academy. Our other students are also Joining NDA and Indian Army, Navy and Army Institute of Technology, Pune. Parents are being pleased well and perhaps this gives us extra energy to tread on our path with much more strength. This School has big name in the area around.
Our main agenda is to pay individual attention to each one, this makes the parents free of worries and us with sense of achievement an inner happiness.
To end with I seek the blessings of Almighty to shower blessings on us of the strength of all kinds to work in this venture with zeal and wisdom.
