The students of *Class X* (Peace) visited Harmony Day Care Center for Differently Abled Children, Dharamshala, as part of an educational visit organised *to provide them with practical exposure* and to develop a *deeper understanding of developmental and learning disabilities.* The visit was accompanied by *Ms. Arsha Rani* (PGT Psychology & School Counsellor).

During the visit, students were introduced to various developmental conditions such as *Down Syndrome, ADHD, Autism, and Intellectual Disability.* The teachers at the centre explained the characteristics, learning needs, and support strategies for children with these conditions, enabling students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-life experiences.

Students observed how children with different abilities are taught through *specialised teaching methods* and individualised learning approaches. They were also introduced to various *sensory and therapeutic tools*, including weighted blankets, sensory brushes, special jackets, and other learning aids used to support emotional regulation, sensory development, and learning. The students were given an opportunity to experience some of these tools themselves, helping them better understand their purpose and effectiveness.

The teachers also facilitated interaction between the students and the children at the centre, allowing them to observe the children’s daily routines, learning environment, and social interactions. This helped students develop greater *empathy, sensitivity, and awareness towards individuals with diverse abilities.*

As a gesture of care and appreciation, *students distributed laddoos and fruit juice* to the children at the centre, making the experience even more memorable. 

Overall, the educational visit proved to be a highly enriching learning experience. It enhanced the students’ understanding of developmental disabilities, encouraged empathy and respect for individuals with diverse needs.
