On 27th February, the students of Class XII (Medical Stream) of Viveka Foundations Senior Secondary School visited Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the medical field and to help them understand the functioning of a medical college and hospital.

The visit proved to be highly informative and inspiring for the students.

Departments and Units Visited

During the visit, students were taken to various important departments of the hospital:

1. Emergency Unit (Casualty Department)

The Emergency Unit operates 24 hours a day and handles patients who require immediate medical attention. Students observed how doctors and nurses work efficiently under pressure and make quick decisions to save lives.

2. OPD (Outpatient Department)

In the OPD, patients visit doctors for consultation, diagnosis, and treatment without being admitted. Students witnessed patient-doctor interactions and understood how medical professionals examine patients and suggest appropriate treatments.

3. IPD (Inpatient Department)

The IPD is meant for patients who require admission and continuous medical supervision. Students learned how admitted patients are monitored and cared for round the clock.

4. Trauma Ward

The Trauma Ward is specially designed for patients with serious injuries due to accidents or emergencies. It is equipped with advanced medical facilities and trained staff for immediate care.

5. Operation Theatre (OT)

The Operation Theatre is a sterile and well-equipped area where surgeries are performed. Students learned about surgical procedures, teamwork among surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses, and the importance of hygiene and precision.

6. Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

The ICU provides critical care to patients who require constant monitoring and life support. Students understood the importance of specialized skills and advanced equipment in saving critically ill patients.

7. Diagnostic Departments (MRI, CT Scan and Radiology)

Students were introduced to modern diagnostic techniques such as MRI and CT scans. They learned how these imaging methods help doctors detect diseases and plan treatments accurately.

8. Robotic Surgery Unit

The students were informed about robotic-assisted surgeries, which allow greater precision and minimally invasive procedures.

9. Anatomy Department

The visit to the Anatomy Department was particularly educational. Students observed how medical students study the human body structure through models and laboratory work, which forms the foundation of medical education.
