"Awareness for Protection: Safeguarding Our Children’s Future"
Viveka Foundations Sr. Sec. School,Mansimbal, organized an awareness camp in collaboration with the Child Helpline Unit, Kangra. The event saw active participation from students, teachers, the Discipline Committee, and the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee. The camp focused on providing valuable information on the POCSO Act, cyber safety, and substance abuse prevention. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, which were answered on the spot.

The District Coordinator of Child Helpline Kangra explained the functioning of the Child Helpline's toll-free number, 1098, in detail. Following this, students were made aware of child rights, including issues such as child marriage, child labor, child trafficking, begging, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, mental harassment, and corporal punishment. They were also informed about the laws and provisions related to these rights.

Students were further cautioned to avoid social media misuse, refrain from accepting rides or gifts from strangers, and maintain distance from unknown individuals. Girls, in particular, were advised to be alert and to report any cases of harassment, stalking, inappropriate comments, or exposure to obscene images or videos, whether at home, in the neighborhood, or on their way to school. Such incidents should be reported immediately to 1098.

The awareness camp at Viveka Foundations School effectively educated students and staff on child rights, safety, and protection from abuse. The valuable insights shared by the Child Helpline Unit empowered participants to recognize and respond to risks. This initiative reinforced the school's commitment to creating a safe and informed environment for its students.
