To mark the global observance of World Environment Day, Viveka Foundation School, Mansimbal, hosted an inspiring and action-oriented celebration on June 5th, aimed at igniting environmental awareness and instilling a sense of ecological responsibility among students.
The programme commenced with an Environment Pledge, where students collectively vowed to protect, preserve, and promote environmental well-being. This was followed by a soul-stirring song dedicated to nature, echoing the harmony and beauty of our planet and setting a reverent tone for the event.
A thought-provoking skit titled “Mother Earth Speaks” was presented, portraying the agony of nature due to human negligence and the urgent need for collective action. The performance left an indelible mark on the audience, reinforcing the message that the Earth is not inherited from our ancestors but borrowed from our children.
The highlight of the day was the Inter-House Debate Competition, which showcased the oratory prowess and critical thinking of the students.
The first debate witnessed a compelling exchange between Aryabhatt House and Major Somnath Sharma House on the motion: "Environmental protection is the responsibility of individuals and not the government."
In the second round, Chaitanya House faced Rabindranath Tagore House on the contentious topic: "Development should be prioritised over environmental conservation."
Both debates sparked stimulating arguments, deep reflections, and passionate viewpoints, making it a true celebration of ideas and intellect.
Debate Results:
1st Place: Aryabhatt House and Rabindranath Tagore House – 71 marks
2nd Place: Chaitanya House – 64.5 marks
3rd Place: Major Somnath Sharma House – 61 marks
The Best Debater Awards were conferred upon:

To conclude the event, students presented the “Green Constitution”, unveiling six golden rules to promote sustainable living and eco-conscious behaviour. These student-driven declarations served as a clarion call to embrace green values and become responsible stewards of the Earth.
